Disventure Camp Season 5 Episode 1 Reveiw "Total Fanfare"
Tuesday, January 27th, 2026
Disventure camp is my current Favorite show! I started watching around Episode 8 of All-stars literally due to Piggy Back. I was off and on watching up until the end of the season, and even then because it was Season 3 I wouldn’t have put it at the top. When season 4 came out things changed, Even before I fully got into watching I was already watching episodes not too long after they premiered, minus episode 5 which I watched sometime before Episode 6. Episode 7 was when my enjoyment of the show clicked for me, mainly due to me finally getting attached to my two favorite characters and my fav ship (It’s episode 7 so it’s kinda obvious I’m talking about Trinji). Since then I’ve seen it as my favorite show, and minus the DC4 Burnout I experienced I’ve really enjoyed watching it.
Now that Season 5 titled Fans vs. Favorites is starting to come out, and I am starting to actually use my site more I’ve Decided to start writing small reviews for the episodes. Hopefully in the future these will be out closer to the episodes release, but when Episode 1 did release I did not have my blog pages set up.
!- This review is filled to the brim with spoilers for episode 1 and the Trailer for episode 2 so if you haven’t seen the episode yet and don’t want to be spoiled please do not read -!
Before I fully get into the episode I do want to talk about some of the Promotional material when it comes to the season and the 1st episode. When it came to DC4’s audition videos, although I would’ve highly recommend for someone to watch them before starting episode 1, even in the Early Season with how characters were introduced into the show they were not really a requirement. The DC4 characters all got moments in the confessionals that allowed them to be introduced to the viewers enough to were although it took 3 episodes you could get a decent overview of the characters. Season 5 so far does not have this, so the introduction videos at last for the Fans is Necessary! I know that as the show goes on we’ll get to know more about the Fans, as well as where the Favs are going this season, but there are likely going to be at least one fan that gets the Ted treatment who we end up not knowing that much about.
One thing I do like compared to DC4 is the fact that going into the season I honestly have little to no idea on what the ships are going to be for the season. In the DC4 intro alone we got shown Zaivy, Anarissa, and Diencer (although not cannon it was a very important plot point for the beginning of the season) all as relationships that would happen during the season. This does definitely work with friendships as they are likely one of many connections a character will have, but it being so obvious I don’t think they were that exciting to me because of that. This is one of the reasons I enjoyed Trinji so much because I honestly was able to digest them as individuals before getting the crumbs that there was more than platonic feelings there that was honestly really prevalent in both Episodes 6 & 7 but didn’t see in the previous episode until after watching 7. That’s not the only reason I really like Trinji, and I still like the other ships, but I really enjoyed being able to put together the clues myself and then getting to witness the mostly off screen slow burn. Currently in DC5 the only ship I see even possibly being hinted at in the intro is Dunia and Nura, and even then it’s only a possibility and I have no idea general relationship wise (romantic or not) where these characters would be out side of one or two people.
When it comes to the Returning favorites I am currently decently happy with all of them. (I mean Benji Hattori is back- I have my fav and that’s all that matters /j.) But In the first episode itself I can see where a lot of the fans early story arcs seem to be going. I know some fans will have to be early boots, and likely won’t do much, so I’m glad there’s characters here like Aiden, Tom, and Ally to possibly be used, and even sill likely have a short pre-merge story. I know likely there is going to be an early elimination or two with the Favs that I’m going to be shocked at because they seemed to have something set up for them that doesn’t happen in the game this season but right now I don’t see another cast of fans working as well.
I think the idea of doing the first Challenge again is something that fits this season, allowing both sides to show their skills from either being on the show, or watching it. But outside of that the challenge itself is nothing too much to write home about (and honestly for me I do prefer seeing the Character Dynamics more than I do the challenges themselves but I Understand how they are used to help) so I am for the most part going to focus on them. I’m only going to go over the character that I do have some thoughts on, this does not mean that anyone that I don’t mention I don’t like, it’s mainly just that they were not able to do much this episode.
Starting off with the Cyan Alliance. Tom, Gabby, Lake, and Aiden are currently to me giving off the vibes that although they are going to play the game, at least for now they are enjoying that fact that that means working together. I think most people know that the alliance as a whole will likely not last for long, but it will be fun to see how that first elimination happens as well as what the remaining players will do because of it. I do think it’s interesting to see the exclusion that seems to be happening when it comes to Ally and Rosa, who although were not members of the Cyan team during All-Stars, are close with the members. It does seem from the scene after the challenge (as well as the Trailer for episode 2) that they are for now trying to bring in Ally and Benji, but Rosa outside of Lake seems to be mostly on the outs. I predict one if not both of these will end up being the cause. I do think if the Alliance has to be strategic on each other they will be able to not have it be a big deal on their friendship outside of it. If I had to predict who will be out first on the team, I want to say Tom due to how he is taking a leadership role for the entire team.
I do enjoy the friendship that Benji and Ally have formed. If I’m remembering correctly in greetings previously both talked positively about each other. I do wish there was a bit more to the scene where Benji talks about being one of her subs and playing on her server, but I will be saying that for a bit more in this episode so I’ll leave it for then. I think it’s obvious that my least favorite thing for ONC to do would be to break up Trinji for these two to be shipped together, but I don’t think they’ll go down this route mainly because outside of breaking up a super popular couple, I think Benji is a bit too close to Hunter, especially as shown in the Season 2 Remake, to not have it feel like similar ship different font. I do see the friendship continuing outside of the show, as well as each getting close to their out of season friends (Tristan, Tess, and Hunter)
I don’t have as much to say about the fans, because they’ve only gotten an introduction and a few scenes, compared to the favs with a season behind them.
Nura is a very interesting character. She seems to be giving off the vibes that Tristan went against, and seems more Gwen from Total Drama. This isn’t a bad thing as for a lot of the favs we do only know them on a surface level, and I can defiantly see Nura breaking out of her negative/sarcastic shell some as the Season goes on.
Dunia is one of the characters who seems to be getting a decent amount of focus this episode, which can be a positive or negative when it comes to how far she’s going to go. With how the eliminated contestant was this episode It was very smart for her to be able to separate the two of them. She seems like someone who is going to have a good strategy, and although I do see problems soon with Nura growing and possibly causing problems, her interaction with Red during the challenge was amazing!
Speaking of which I already am liking Ren. Although he took a more comedic relief role this episode I can see his habit of hanging around to his advantage to get info and make allies.
Although it might have been better for the eliminated contestant to get more development if the Fans won, The favorites ended up winning. I don’t think either option was bad knowing what happens after, but it’s highly likely we only have 3 more episodes at most with some focus on this character, and those will likely be shared with the other early boots, so there’s a chance they stay the same as they are now at the end of the season, or they become the Alessio of the Season.
Right ofter the Challenge we have the Journey, which was defiantly a very humorous part of the episode having the contrast of the two characters sent. On one hand we have Alec who is currently working with Fiore against the grain of the Cyan Alliance. A duo that is currently at the bottom of their team, but both being very strategic are not going to go down without a fight.
On the other hand we have the current comic relief of the season being Evie, who like most are predicting thought she was signing up for an entirely different show. That is at least what it seems like to the Audience currently. I would not be entirely surprised if it turns out that this is at least somewhat an act, mainly due to her Cameo at the end of TomJake season 2. I also wouldn’t if she just assumed from seeing the couple that this was a dating show (and in some ways she’s not wrong.
I like how this season it was just an advantage for one of the two, with the Immunity idols being hidden at camp. Although giving Alec and Fiore a leg up for one elimination it still has them doing some work for the elimination, and also could put them at a better space in the team post the elimination due to forming an alliance with the other Favs in comparison to an idol which as shown in season 4 both times it was used ended up putting, or keeping the person who used it in a bad place with their competitors. It also causes more suspense to viewers as to when they will be found and by who than compared to knowing who will have them in episode 2 last season.
Post challenge in this episode did something I know likely won’t continue to happen pre-merge with showing both teams after the challenge. It does good as we are still learning new dynamics on the Fan’s team, but soon things will likely go back to a usual focus on just the team up for elimination.
Rosa María like I mentioned earlier is defiantly feeling on the outs like I mentioned earlier with the Cyan Alliance. She’s the only Non-star here and it shows. I do like how this allows Anastasia to form a connection with her. I think they are both going to level each other out with Ana pushing Rosa to be more strategic in the game, and Rosa helping Ana with the social aspect of the game. Although part of me sees Ana being the first Season 4 boot, It’s honestly a toss up if it’s her or one of the other three. She does have the plus that Benji does with a connection to another season’s contestant, which Natalia and Spencer do not. None of the season 4 contestants in this episode even showed a connection with one another so-
Back to the Fans we have Oliwla who is simultaneously having a Benji and Hannah Arc. She is someone who has trouble making friends, but as soon as she makes one they get eliminated. Since we just technically saw those two things last season I hope she is very quickly able to find people on her team who want to be her friends, who don’t then immediately get eliminated. I think Ren and Dunia are good options from what we see with Ren with both Oliwla and Dunia in this episode.
Finn and Ana are a very interesting duo. Both being openly antagonistic I was honestly seeing both of them as possibilities for the first boot before it was made clear who it would be. I don’t think both of them are going to make it far if they keep things up like they are. They have already made enemies with Bruno and Manu, and possibly making more which can cause the rest of the team to end up turning on them. I can see after one of them gets eliminated the other owning up to their actions (or at least outwardly pretending to) to try and stay in the game, possibly once alliance lines are more drawn on the team.
Bruno was also a contender for early boot mainly because of the leadership position he tried to take during the challenge. I think a good thing going for him is that he has Manu. Although Bruno may not be a good leader, his strategies and ideas are one that can very much help someone who will better fit a leadership role, and I can see Manu possibly doing that.
Sam is a very interesting character, who is he had what he had happen to him happen later on in the season, or with something more than a zodiac sign, could have been a huge bump in the road for his gameplay. With the reason and timing it ended up actually helping him, because not only did it make the one person against him an easy target for the elimination, but if Oliwla, or someone who was seen as on the eliminated contestant’s side, actually finds out or sees him as a threat he’s in a better place to brush them off.
And now we’ve reached the elimination with our first boot Aubrey. Although she was technically right in seeing Sam as a threat, she did the worst possible thing to try and get others onto her side. I think she could have very easily with Manu gotten the others through conversation to vote for Finn or Ana due to bringing down team moral. with how the Duo are openly acting it’s a very easy thing to do to get the target off of Bruno. Then we at least have a strong group of four with Aubrey, Oliwla, Bruno, and Manu. I could very easily see them bringing in Ren and Dunia and even Evie and have a decent majority for an elimination or two and could have used them to get out Sam. Outside of what ifs though she is a perfect first boot, getting one like Benji’s in season 4 where once a moment happens you know that the result is set in stone which works good for a first episode.
We also got re-introduced to Rescue Island, which since there is a high likelihood we don’t get an episode like last season is a good way to introduce it. I think unless we get a lot of double eliminations we likely are not getting episodes with a team swap elimination, or exile Island (or whatever it was called last season) and we are also likely only getting one returning contestant. I do still think we are getting a Motel episode, as it does help push eliminated contestants towards their finale stories if they have one. But most will likely be elimination which can help with preventing the season from feeling like it’s dragging.
Overall I did enjoy this episode, but it defiantly could have done with being longer than it was. A lot of interactions felt rushed, and the fans were not properly introduced in the show. The last one isn’t a big deal for us fans who watch almost everything about the show, but it’s likely that new fans will just jump into the season. As someone who is planning on making DVDs of the show for personal use this is one of the reasons that when I make this season’s and season 4’s that I plan on putting the introduction videos together to play before episode 1. Season 4 had the plus of having it’s first elimination cycle be two episodes, but I think just extending the episode by 10-20 minutes would’ve helped the episode out a lot.
I do think with time things will slow down as less characters need to take up screen time, and we get used to the fans. Although I do want some new challenges seeing an old one pop up every now and again will be nice. I think it’s a given we’re getting back the Musical Challenge, VR, and likely Lie detector. I personally would like if The fears challenge from season 1 / Truth or dare Challenge from Season 4 comes back in the next few episodes, as it’s one of my favorites for getting to know the characters.
I also think having a first season with just Emily on Staff is very interesting. It’s good that we’re likely not going to have to deal with a staff storyline on top of 24 contestants. I know some people were expecting Amelie to help co-host or do something on staff, but even if she was I don’t think she would do more past normal staff stuff.
It’s sad to see that we lost exit interviews as not only did I enjoy watching them once I really got into season 4, they did add a lot to the characters, and make the two weeks between episodes less painful. But part of what lead to my DC4 burnout was how awful ONC got at releasing these on time.
Which goes into one of my fears when it comes to the season that we not only are at episodes every two weeks without interviews, but the season’s promotion felt so rushed. Which is because it basically was-. Despite it being what I like to consider the “Off season” of disventure camp there were 5 weeks where we were getting 3 episodes a week. Two of the Season 2 remake and One of TomJake Season 2. Although both were very good, we defiantly could have after season 4 gotten weekly episodes of TomJake followed by the DC2 Remake and given ONC more time to work on things for Season 5. If they still didn’t want a long break between the end of both of those and beginning of Season 5 I don’t think anyone would have minded getting Season 5 promo so that it was more spread out. Yes DC5 likely wouldn’t have started until March, but we would have longer times between promo videos, and likely could have gotten the Promo art of the characters each season got as well as VA reveals. (Also we could’ve gotten weekly episodes for a bit)
Despite this I understand that ONC is a company that I do not know fully how it runs (I think the VA situation shows that) one who because they are funded by Patreon may have needed to rush to season 5 because of it being the time between new seasons. I do not work for ONC, I am just a viewer so take everything I say about this with a grain of salt, and with the knowledge that overall I really do like this show and it characters, and I’m excited to see what’s in store in episode 2. (I also mainly view the Fandom on Reddit, which defiantly can be very negative towards the series)

The Pain of Working on a Site, With 0 Prior Knowlege.
Saturday, January 24th, 2026
I think like most people who decide to start making a site on Neocities, or on other site hosting platforms in the indie web, I have come into this will no coding knowlege, let alone experience. Unless you count some random hour of code things my school did every now and again which honestly felt more like putting peices of a puzzle together rather than actually learning how to make something out of nothing. And I think anyone can tell you that an hour alone is not long enough to learn or make anything really substancial.
Despite being Gen Z, I feel like even I myself am way behind on being tech literate when it comes to computers, because I only really know what the corporations wanted me to know and do with my devices. Not to the point I have no idea how to find where a file is, but if I was told "You can't do this because XYZ" I would leave it alone. Even my computer itself being on MacOS has felt very rigid in the things it just won't let me do that have seemed more simple on the previous WindowsOs I had and leared how to do stuff with. It seems like for some reason some of the simplest things my Windows computer that I had since I was in elementary school could do before it died is stuff my Mac found impossible. For example my Mac did not come equiped to run.exe files, one of the most common file types I see when it comes to programs I want to use.
Due to this and just the in general feeling of being left out because my Mac can't run something likely due to big corpo Apple just not wanting me to, I had to kinda start looking for the loopholes where I could. Can't run a .exe file? I downloaded Wine and for the most part things run smoothly. Wanting to download something that doesn't have a .dmg file for Mac? I can at least try and do something through the terminal.
The key word there is Try, becuase a lot of times Im subbornly staring at a wall because for some reason something that the guide I'm following that says should work is somehow not, and no matter what I do nothing is working to fix it. And depending on how stuborn the wall or I am, I give up and leave things alone for a bit. But for some reason despite having no clue why things aren't working and a greater hatred for apple, I likely come back to it sometime later and something just clicks.
Maybe I find the right tool to break down the wall stopping me from moving forward. Maybe I find a new path that the wall doesn't block. Or maybe sometimes I was making the wall bigger than it actually was and can still get to my goal with it up, even if not ideal. Sometimes once I deal with that everything else is smooth sailing, but other times I'm at the next step with an entirely new issue stopping me.
This is something I think has been personally helpful when it comes to me deciding to make my own site, I knew barely anything a year ago when I made Version 0 which acted mostly as a Linktree than anything. I barely got past the basic pages I wanted with a very simple CSS, let alone the personality and fun things I wanted to do. Even rn with Version 1 this site is so far away from a completed state if that even is possible for something that I want to keep updating with time. But with not knowing anything past the basics, but still wanting things to look somewhat decent and not bland I have already run into my fair share of issues that are apparent from my update log.
The most recent and also likely first wall was with wanting things to be the same from page to page without me having to edit every page. Thankfully I was able to use Petrapixel's layout generator to help get those to work around my site. The issue came here when wanting to have a set right sidebar for my blog. I tried doing some digging in the files the generator provided to be able to see if I could make a seperate code for the right sidebar for the blog (and likely other pages too) without both codes clashing. I ended up having to follow a comment on This Reddit Post and even after first following that things still were giving me issues that lead to me just quitting last night after hyping up working on the site for the past few days.
It wasn't untill I had already given up on it working and stopped coding for the night, and was actually ready for sleep when a possible answer hit me. To my luck it ended up mostly working- If you're reading this close to the date of this blog podt you can likely see that the Blog Navigation looks like it's a Sidebar within a Sidebar. That's because that's exactly how it's currently codeded, and currently anything I try to do with the code on either side breaks something. Maybe one day the solution will fall right into my lap, but for now it's functional and that's all I need it to be.
I'm likely am going to have many more problems when it comes to making the rest of the pages of my site- but unlikr other things I've done, seeing how easy it is to find a resorse that helps solve a problem helps makes the process more enjoyable. My Resourse collection is one the pages I have on high priority to be made next, so hopefully untill then I can keep what I've used together
Thanks for Reading! Untill Next Time!
